Burt Bacharach Biography
Burt Bacharach's songwriting partnership with Hal David is one of the most successful in pop history: together, they are often considered a songwriting team with few peers. Bacharach writes the music and David the lyrics, and Dionne Warwick frequently recorded the song. Many other acclaimed and successful singers, such as Perry Como, Johnny Mathis, Dusty Springfield, Isaac Hayes, the Carpenters and the White Stripes have had success with a Bacharach-composed tune.
Many Bacharach-David songs are considered pop classics. Their most famous songs include: "Magic Moments", "Close To You", "Walk On By", "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself", "What The World Needs Now Is Love", "What's New Pussycat?", "I Say A Little Prayer", "The Look Of Love" and "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head". The latter song won an Academy Award for Best Song after appearing in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
